A tooth’s degeneration depends on both environmental and genetic factors. As a tool used daily some wear is to be expected, but a qualified dental professional will advise a patient appropriately how to keep the wear to a minimum. That being stated, some problems occur.
Dental veneers can answer individual problem teeth. Veneers are built to appear natural, and simply cover a problem area in the mouth. Usually made from porcelain, veneers are also fabricated from composite materials. Veneers are custom made for individual teeth, either in a laboratory or specialized dental offices.
Attached by forming the veneer and the tooth for a proper fit. Veneers can be utilized for more serious problems, not just cosmetic. The latter can usually be addressed more simply.
The veneer process does take three visits over six weeks. Once a veneer is required, the tooth will be prepared (usually under anesthetic). A mold will be built for the permanent prosthetic and the veneer placed. The second visit will see the permanent veneer placed, using adhesive. At that time any required corrections will be made. The final visit is for inspection, in order to assure that the veneer is fit properly and that the patient is caring for it.
