CEREC

Dental restoration is a marathon, not a sprint, and therefore takes several trips to the dental office. First, an investigation must be undertaken, including creating a mold of the patient’s mouth for construction of the required reconstructive prostheses. Usually the restorations can be placed on the second visit.

Laboratory proficiency is the key to both comfort and number of visits regarding new and temporary restorations.

The CEREC is a design and manufacturing machine that creates new, custom, ceramic dental restorations with a single visit to the dentist’s office. The new technology is not only more convenient, but the finished product is significantly more durable and can be used for inlays, outlays, crowns and veneers.

The CEREC maps the patient’s mouth and jaw, for a comprehensive design for the new restorations. The machine can build the restoration from the measurements on site, removing the requirement for both temporary restorations and subsequent visits. What previously took weeks now can be accomplished in minutes.

A patient will have to research local dental practices to determine which has the CEREC technology if it is desired.
